‘the snail trail’ discover the world of ‘héliciculture’ in burgundy
|Day 2 – Monday
After a leisurely breakfast you will be heading off to our most local snail farm where this small holding raises snails in the traditional way, but who also has a micro laboratory where all the preparations are carried out in order to sell snail products.
Lunch will be back at ‘la lochere’ followed by a short trip to enjoy the wines of our local vineyard Flavigny where the film ‘Chocolat’ was made.
You will then be free to stroll through the village and admire the medieval architecture, pop into the quaint sweet shop where the ‘anis de Flavigny’ are produced
A demonstration by Katherine will preceed dinner cooked by the team
|Day 4 – Wednesday
This morning after breakfast, Brendan our wine expert will whisk you off to the South of Burgundy towards Chassagne Montrachet where your taste buds will be brought to life and you’ll learn new techniques to appreciate wine.
You will indulge in a local Bistro lunch before heading to another snail farm near Chalon sur Saone, bigger than our first producer, but still rearing snails in the traditional way.Dinner will be at ‘la ferme de la lochere’
|Day 6 – Friday
After breakfast this morning we shall be preparing a light lunch together and then you will depart with one of our regular guides to the Abbaye de Fontenay www.abbayedefontenay.com one of the oldest Cistercian Monasteries in Europe founded in 1118 by St. Bernard and now a Unesco treasure.
On the return trip you will stop off at ‘Alexandre’ Chocolatier in the medieval town of Semur en Auxois for a private chocolate tasting where Alexandre will share the secrets of fine chocolate.
You will then be free to take bikes out along the Canal de Bourgogne, stroll through the countryside, explore the local Chateau or just relax by the pool.
Our farewell supper will be the penultimate feast, a degustation menu at 3* michelin restaurant Bernard Loiseau in Saulieu www.bernard-loiseau.com
|Day 7 – Saturday
Alas, all Sood things must come to an end and after breakfast we will be offering transfers to the train station in Montbard where you will be taken to Paris in time for lunch, and your new appreciation for all things French can be truly indulged!
