‘Girlfriend getaway,’ wine based pampering and gourmet secrets with Katherine Frelon
|Day 1 – Saturday
Arrive at, ‘La Ferme de la Lochere,’ by transfer from the local station provided by us, and enjoy the local Burgundian Aperitif & Welcome Chat.
There will be plenty of time to explore the village & meander along the canal before dinner, where we will discuss the weeks programme and delight in a wine tasting with our expert Brendan Moore www.wine-liaisons.com who will explain the sometimes confusing appellation of Burgundy’s famous wines and a Gougere demonstration with your hostess.
|Day 2 – Sunday
After a delicious breakfast of local patisseries you will be heading to the very local market of Semur en Auxois before heading for a pre lunch wine tasting in Flavigny sur Ozerain where the film ‘chocolat’ was made followed by a light lunch at home.
Before starting your afternoon hands on cooking lesson there will be plenty of time to relax and while away a little time.
Dinner will be created by you all and enjoyed together over a delicious glass or two of Burgundies greatest wines.
|Day 3 – Monday
Breakfast is a leisurely affair with a continental style approach followed by a hands on morning cooking up a storm of French classics and creative dishes from your cookbooks and quite probably some extra recipes or two depending what has suddenly ripened in the kitchen garden.
We’ll make a plan for our market trip on Tuesday and discuss any requests or issues guests might have with cooking skills.
After lunch you will be heading up to Chablis with Brendan where he will introduce you to some of his favourite wine producers.Dinner will be prepared during the hands on lessons and there will be time to take a stroll, go out on the bikes or relax by the pool.
|Day 4 – Tuesday
Today you will be heading off to Dijon and the colourful Market that is held 3 times a week. Armed with your recipe book and a list of ingredients to seek out, testing your French! When your baskets are full a well earned café au lait awaits you before heading back via the ducal palace of the Dukes of Burgundy. A rustic lunch will be enjoyed from the market out in the courtyard, and then you will be treated to a traditional bread making lesson with our local baker before preparing supper using all the delicious goodies brought that morning.Dinner will be cooked by your hostess and all those wishing to join in.
|Day 5 – Wednesday
This is ALL about wine!The ultimate girlfriend experience a whole morning being pampered with naturel wine based products made locally in the Cote de Beaune area.
Followed by lunch in the centre of Beaune and a few hours to shop in the boutique shops with a guided visit of the Hospice de Beaune the opulent hospital created by the Chancellor Nicholas Rolin www.hospices-de-beaune.com.As you wind your way home a Vineyard tasting is the perfect way to end this pampered day
our farewell supper will be the penultimate feast , full of the flavours you have enjoyed throughout your stay.
|Day 6 – Thursday
Alas, all good things must come to an end and after Breakfast we will be offering transfers to the train station in Montbard.We hope your new appreciation for all things French can be truly indulged!
